Roadents round up (by Mark Douglas)

9 Aug 2021 by Martin Green

Its been another great weekend of running for the Roadents and the start of Park run at Pontypridd is now less than 2 weeks away ๐Ÿ™‚
According to the official Park run page we only had 3 runners doing a run this week and 2 of those were first home. Congratulations
to Andrew How for Being first at Thornbury in 17.47 and Oliver Williams for doing the same at Clevedon Flats in 16.46. An honourable mention also goes to Simon Miles for running Torbay Velopark and coming 9th in 18.45.

It was also a busy weekend for Jo Gwynne and Mike Gwynne doing their normal Sunday thing and completing another marathon with Saturn Running.

Owain Groves had an interesting morning down in Porthcawl doing a standard triathlon in rough conditions and completed the 10K run in 47.18 with strong winds in both directions.

Last but not least we had 2 runners take on the Preseli Beast in West Wales which I would say is one of the toughest races around. The race starts in the small village of Maenclochog in the Preseli hills and goes up and around Foel Cwmcerwyn with beautiful views off the rough trails. Mark Horsman and Sean Oโ€™Connor completed the mini beast which is the 11 mile option with Mark finishing 4th. There is usually a marathon distance option and a Ultra distance option so if anyone is interested in doing this keep an eye out for next years edition.
